Policies

Late Policy: Your appointment will be marked as missed after 10 minutes for a 30 minute appointment and after 15 minutes for 60- and 90-minute appointments.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to 4 hours before a scheduled appointment. Your appointment will be marked as missed if you cancel less than 4 hours before your session.

No-Show/Missed Appointment Policy: After 3 no shows/missed appointments in one semester, your WCOnline account will be disabled. You will need to make Writing Center appointments by calling 815-836-5427 or emailing writingcenter@lewisu.edu.

Account Policy: You may only have 1 account.

Online Responses: Online responses are assigned to mentors during business hours M-F. Online responses sent after we close for the evening or for the weekend will be assigned as soon as possible on the next business day.

Copy Editing Policy: Our mentors can help you address grammatical errors and other lower-order concerns. However, since our mission is to help you become a better writer, we won’t simply copyedit your writing for you. Instead, we’ll help you identify and learn how to address these issues on your own. This might mean that we don’t get to every single copyediting issue in a tutorial.

Substantial Revision Policy: Please note that if you are resubmitting a draft that a Writing Center mentor has already commented on, please be sure that you have made significant changes/revisions that reflect a substantially revised draft. It is Writing Center policy that mentors work on material that is new or reflects substantial changes.
