Resetting Your Network / Email Password

Password Requirements

When resetting your password, the new password must meet the University’s security requirements for complexity. These complexity requirements are as follows:

  • Must be at least 8 characters in length.
  • Must contain at least one Upper Case Letter.
  • Must contain at least one Lower Case Letter.
  • Must contain at least one Number.
  • Must contain at least one Special Character.
  • Cannot contain part of your Lewis username, first name, or last name.
  • Current password is good for 180 days from the date it was originally established, and therefore needs to be changed approximately every six months.
  • You should receive notification upon login if your password is due to expire in 14 days, and if not changed within those 14 days, you will need to have it reset by the Service Desk before you can access Lewis resources again.
  • Up to 5 previous passwords are remembered, therefore you cannot revert back to one of your last five passwords.
  • If your password is reset by the Service Desk, it cannot be changed for 24 hours to allow for synchronization with the entire system (access to all Lewis resources, except for CaMS Lab and Cloud Lab accounts which are managed separately).
