Meet the Residence Life Coordinators

Jay Garay-Salazar
RLC of Founders Hall

I am getting my Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management.

I wanted to become a Residence Life Coordinator because I had worked for Residence Life for about a year as a student worker. Therefore, I was able to see firsthand the change that this position can make in people's lives and I wanted to be a part of that positive change.

If you could be any fictional character who would you be and why?
I would be Lilo from Lilo and Stitch because she is sweet and believes in the good of everyone.

Jamie Hogan
RLC of Fitzpatrick

I am studying Clinical Mental Health with a focus in children. I hope to become an art therapist one day.

I wanted to become a Residence Life Coordinator because I love helping students find their place on campus. There are so many clubs, activities, and resources that each student can learn about themselves, helpful academic resources, and make friends along the way.

If I could be a fiction character, I would defiantly be Katniss from Hunger Games. I feel like this would be fitting because I'm strong, independent, and like working with a team.

Garrett Castello
RLC of North

I am studying Elementary Education with a Special Education endorsement.

I have worked with Residence Life staff in the past as a Conference Assistant (many of which were Residence Life Coordinators). My time as a CA was one of the best during my undergrad. I wanted to come back to Lewis to become a teacher and the opportunity presented itself at the perfect moment. I also have loved my time in the business world managing people and helping them be their best, so being an RLC scratches that itch as well.

If I could be any fictional character, I would be Gandalf the Grey from Lord of the Rings. He's a guy that has the responsibility of the world on his shoulders, but he's able to stay calm and collected as things crash down around him. He always has faith in his ability and insight to carry him (and the people who follow him) through. I really admire that kind of determination and foresight.

Adam Sadek
RLC of Cody, Ryan and De La Salle

I am studying my Master's for Aviation and Transportation. I am also hoping to get my Certified Flight Instructor's License soon to be able to work part time teaching student pilots at Lewis University how to fly.

I wanted to be a Residence Life Coordinator because I had a great experience being a Resident Assistant for two years and I loved the department. I was very familiar with the job and thought I'd make a smooth transition into being an RLC, and felt I'd make a strong addition to the team.

I'd love to be Starlord from Guardians of the Galaxy. I feel like we have very similar personalities in that we both like to not take things too seriously and stay pretty relaxed most of the time.

Nycole Torres
RLC of John Paul, Mother Teresa and Dorothy Day

I am getting my Mater’s in Secondary Education.

I became a Residence Life Coordinator because I really enjoyed my experience as a resident assistant. I knew that I wanted to continue working with students in higher education. I hope to make connections with my residents and help them navigate through obstacles or connect them to the appropriate resources that will help them succeed in college.

If I were a cartoon character, I would be Stewie Griffin from Family Guy. Stewie is an intelligent human being and is often underestimated by adults because he’s a child. I admire how clever Stewie is and although he’s a genius, he still has child-like tendencies. Additionally, like Stewie, who likes to pull pranks on Brian, I too love pranking close friends around me. I feel that Stewie and I are both very playful and have a childish sense of humor.

Jennifer Glynn
RLC of Sheil and South

I am working on my Master’s of Social Work.

The reason that I wanted to be a Residence Life Coordinator is because I've always enjoyed being an advocate for students. I remember from the time I started at Lewis an undergraduate student wanting to be an RLC because of the awesome leaders I once had, so following in their footsteps was something that has always been important to me. Working in the Office of Residence Life allows me to be able to continue my work in making sure that my students’ voices are heard.

A fictional character who I would best play would be Jess from New Girl because she is awkward in almost every situation she encounters and I am equally if not more awkward then Jess in day to day life. So it would be perfect.

Timothy Collins
RLC of St. Charles Borromeo

I am studying organizational leadership with concentrations in organizational management and non for profit management.

I wanted to be a Residence Life Coordinator to help residents and facilitate a healthy and welcoming community for Lewis.

If I could be any fictional character I would be Ant Man because he is the best avenger.
