For counseling and mental health support, the Counseling Services team is here for you. We meet with you in person or if appropriate, through telehealth, using Zoom or Microsoft Teams platform.  The Counseling team has successfully provided telehealth services since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the case of a more urgent matter, you can call 815.836.5455 during the Center’s hours.

You will be directed to complete an Urgent Care form online, which a counselor will immediately review and make a follow-up plan to meet virtually or in-person if needed. If not deemed an emergency, an appointment will be made for an agreed upon time (depending on urgency of concerns).

Students can schedule appointments by calling the Center for Health & Counseling Services at 815.836.5455 or by filling out appointment this request form:

The Center will make a private office space available for students to reserve if they are concerned about having a private space to meet for their counseling session. Students will provide their own device (phone, laptop). A noise-cancelling sound machine will be provided and signage will indicate that the room is in use to best ensure privacy.  Students can state their interest in utilizing the privacy room to their counselor or administrative staff when scheduling appointments. The room will be disinfected after each use and students may also disinfect table before usage.

Students or staff experiencing a life-threatening emergency should call 911 or LUPD 815.836.5911 or 815.836.5222 for non-emergencies, or other urgent matters after hours.

Educational presentations and programs will also be offered in person or via online virtual platforms. In-person small group trainings or education programming will be offered on a case by case basis. Requests should be made on https://lewisu.edu/programrequest/ and determination will be made and communicated in terms of staffing feasibility, priority and safety.
