Workshop for R.N.'s Working in Schools

At the conclusion of the workshop, the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify state and federal laws that directly affect the practice of nursing in the school setting
  2. Identify health problems specific to the school setting
  3. Apply the nursing process in providing care for injuries and illnesses to students and staff in the school setting
  4. Apply legal resources and references affecting the practice of nursing in the school setting
  5. Identify resources for protecting the safety of students and staff in the prevention of violence and the implementation of crisis plans

Workshop is limited to the first 50 registrants. Minimum of 10 registrants.

This continuing nursing education activity has been approved by the Illinois Association of School Nurses Approval Unit to award 11.75 contact hours.  The IASN Approval Unit is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.


  • Participants will need to attend the entire activity and submit an evaluation form to receive contact hours.
  • This program is intended to provide information to facilitate the safe practice of nursing in a school setting.
