Men's Cross Country Wins a Title at National Catholic Invite

Lewis Men's Cross Country Captures Small School Title at National Catholic Invitational Friday

The Lewis University men's cross country team finished first in the small school divisionincluding NCAA DII schools and tied for third overall, at the National Catholic Invitational Friday (Sept. 15). The Flyers finished with 105 points.

Leading the way for Lewis was juniorCharlie Wirth(Greenville, Wis./Hortonville)who finished the 5K race with a time of 25:23.0 and won the small school title.SeniorSean Ryan(Independence, KY/Saint Henry)was the next Flyer to cross the finish line after recording a time of 25:34.8.

SophomoreOwen Thomas(Valparaiso, IN/Morgan Township)was not far behind Ryan as he finished with a time of 25:55.8. Graduate studentPatrick Hennessey(Williamsport, Ind./Seeger)crossed the finish line next for Lewis after recording the time of 25:59.0.

FreshmanEvan Horgan(Loves Park, Ill./Belvidere North)was right behind Hennesseyafter finishing the race with a time of 26:01.6. Rounding out the top seven for Lewis was seniorCasey Quintana(Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka)who had a time of 26:12.7.
