Karaba Named ABCA/Rawlings Midwest Pitcher of the Year

Jake Karaba Named ABCA/Rawlings Midwest Pitcher of the Year; Three Named to Second Team All-Midwest

The American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sport Goods announced its All-Midwest Region Teams with four Lewis baseball players being named to the teams and Jake Karaba (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) taking home pitcher of the year.

The junior went 7-2 with a 1.62 ERA in 66.2 innings of work. Karaba recorded 119 strikeouts while only allowing 34 hits and 20 walks for a 0.81 WHIP (Walks + Hits / Innings Pitched). He had four complete games with two shutouts.

Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly)
Alt hit .387 on the season which led the team in 53 games played with a team-best 74 hits, scoring 46 runs. He had 11 doubles and 26 RBI while walking 36 times and only striking out 12 times.

Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic)
Cantelo played in 47 games this season for the Flyers, hitting .363 with 13 doubles, nine home runs and a team best 46 RBI. 

Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian)
Fox hit for a .340 average with a team-best 13 home runs to go along with 10 doubles on 65 total hits in 52 games. He has scored a team-high 47 times with 45 RBI and has registered 114 total bases a team high.
