Lewis University Earns Tree Campus Higher Education Recognition
Published: February 21, 2023.
The Arbor Day Foundation continues to recognize Lewis University’s Romeoville campus as a Tree Campus Higher Education honoree. For 13 years, the university leaders have been honored for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation.
Lewis University achieved the honor of being a 2022 Tree Campus Higher Education based on five standards, which include maintaining a tree advisory committee, developing a campus tree-care plan, providing dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, scheduling an Arbor Day observance and holding a student service-learning project involving trees.
Arbor Day Foundation created Tree Campus Higher Education in 2008 to honor colleges and universities in environmental conservation. The Arbor Day Foundation is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to planting trees. Guided by its mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees, the Arbor Day Foundation is committed to unlocking the power of trees to help solve critical issues facing people and the planet.
