Celebration of Scholarship – Mark Your Calendars

Published: December 6, 2022.

Lewis University will hold its 11th Annual Celebration of Scholarship on Thursday, April 13, 2023.  This on-campus symposium is a rich opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to present scholarly work to a student, faculty and staff audience in celebration of the academic excellence that is central to the Mission of the University.  Undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines are encouraged to present projects through poster sessions, concurrent sessions, or share a creative work via performances or exhibitions, as appropriate.  Examples of the kinds of scholarship that will be considered for inclusion in the symposium include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Original research focused on a discipline-specific issue or problem
  • Scholarly projects developed individually or as part of a group, perhaps as part of required coursework
  • A painting, illustration, photograph, or other visual work
  • A musical composition which can be performed at the symposium
  • A poem, short story, or other literary work which can be read at the symposium

Applications can be submitted through the event website until February 8, 2023.  Undergraduate student applicants may also elect for their project to be considered for the Dr. Stephany Schlachter Excellence in Undergraduate Scholarship Award.  Application instructions, selection criteria and details about the selection process concerning this award can be found here on the Celebration of Scholarship website.

Additionally, undergraduate students from all majors are invited to submit either a business plan idea or a business pitch to the Brother Joel Damian Business Plan and Pitch Competition. Participants will present their ideas to a panel of judges and will be competing for cash awards and space in the Lewis University Regional Incubator. More details can be found here. The deadline for submission is February 15, 2023.

President’s Art Show entries will be submitted directly to the Art Department at the Wadsworth Family Gallery. Students can submit up to 5 projects. Drop off days for projects will be March 20-21, 2023.

Questions can be directed to Dr. Matthew Domico domicoma@lewisu.edu or Dr. Marie Meyer mmeyer2@lewisu.edu.
