Cyber Defense Team Gets Top 5 in National Competition

One of Lewis University's Cyber Defense Club teams finished in the Top Five out of 150 other teams in the Nov. 6 U.S. Department of Energy's CyberForce competition.

The team used their cybersecurity and teamwork skills to defend a simulated solar energy array from determined hackers. 

Undergraduate students on the team include Ryan Syed (captain), Kyle Bye, Aiden Fifer, Nic Formella, Ethan Justice and Cindy Lee.

Dr. Jason Perry, associate professor of engineering, computing, and mathematical sciences and director of Cybersecurity and IT programs, serves as the team's faculty mentor.
