19th Ranked Flyers Earn 15th Consecutive NCAA Bid

Published: November 22, 2021.

For the 20th time in program history, and the 15th consecutive season, Lewis women's volleyball is going to the NCAA Tournament. The No. 19 Flyers learned their seed Monday (Nov. 22) evening when the NCAA Midwest Region bracket was released.

Lewis received the number four seed in the Midwest Region and will take on fifth seeded Missouri-St. Louis in a rematch of the GLVC Volleyball Tournament championship match on Sunday (Nov. 21). The Flyers also defeated the Tritons 3-1 on Nov. 6 in St. Louis. Top seed Ferris State will serve as the host for the regional.

Lewis earned the GLVC's automatic bid thanks to winning the GLVC Tournament on Sunday rallying to defeat UMSL in an exciting five-set match at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria, Ill. It's the Flyers 11th GLVC title in program history.

Lewis enters the NCAA Tournament with a 26-6 record while the Tritons are 24-8.

The Flyers streak of 15 consecutive NCAA trips is the longest of all women's volleyball teams in the Midwest Region and longest ever of any Lewis program since the Flyers joined the NCAA Division II ranks in 1981.

Dates and match times will be announced on Tuesday (Nov. 23).
