Lewis University was among the universities honored as a Silver Seal Campus in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, a non-partisan national awards program. Campuses with 60-70 percent voter participation in elections received the designation.
More than 67 percent of Lewis University students voted in last year’s presidential election. Visit https://bit.ly/3jOGWo4 to read the full campus report.
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, in collaboration with higher education, seeks to make participation in local, state, and federal elections a social norm, increase the number of college students who are democratically engaged during and between elections, and educate students to graduate with the knowledge, skills, behaviors, and values needed to be informed and active citizens.
By recognizing colleges and universities for their commitment to increasing student voting rates, the Challenge encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship, make democratic participation a core value on their campus, and cultivate generations of engaged citizens who are essential to a healthy democracy.
Voter registration drives and voter information guides are just a few examples of how the Lewis University Committee for Civic Engagement regularly provides resources for students to engage in the democratic process.
