No. 13 Lewis Men’s Cross Country Wins Vic Godfrey Open

Lewis University's 13th ranked men's cross country team opened its 2021 season winning Parkside's Vic Godfrey Open with 23 points on Friday (Sept. 3) at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wis. The Flyers had nine runners place in the top 20.

Anthony Farmer (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) and Dustin Macuiba (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) finished first and second overall with times of 18:26.3 and 18:36.8 in the 6-kilometer (3.7 mile) race. Garrett White (Alsip, Ill./Alan B. Shepherd) and Anthony Pena (East Moline, Ill./Pleasant Valley (Iowa)) finished fifth and sixth in the race with times of 18:44.1 and 18:56.8.

Zach Fresenko (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville), Charlie Wirth (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) and Daniel Arimi (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) rounded out the scoring for Lewis finishing ninth, 10th and 11th. Fresenko finished with a time of 19:04.1, Wirth's time was 19:07.4 and Arimi crossed the line at 19:08.1.

Jacob Hinchley (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) and Sean Ryan (Independence, Ky./Saint Henry) finished 14th and 16th respectively with times of 19:20.3 and 19:24.1.

Lewis is back in action in two weeks when they travel to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the National Catholic Championships hosted by Notre Dame.
