COVID Update - Submit It to Win It, Benefits of Vaccination

Published: July 15, 2021.

If you have not received your vaccine yet, do not delay. The start of the Fall 2021 Semester is seven weeks from Monday so if you are going to get the two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, you need to start the two-shot protocol in the next week in order to be fully vaccinated in time for the start of the Fall 2021 Semester.

Submit It to Win It!

Beginning July 22, Lewis University is holding a weekly raffle for students and employees who submit their vaccinated status on the LewisU App or online at the link for STUDENTS and FACULTY & STAFF before August 30, 2021. Lewis University students who submit their COVID-19 vaccinated status or apply for an exemption will be automatically entered into each student weekly raffle with prizes that include electronics, gift cards, and more. Lewis University employees who submit their COVID-19 vaccinated status will be automatically entered into the employee weekly raffle for Bookstore gift cards.

The earlier students and employees submit their status, the more chances they have to win! The first weekly drawing will be held at noon Thursday, July 22 during Conversations from Stritch Hall. Tune into  youtube.com/Lewis University to hear the first weekly winners announced.

Advantages of Being COVID-19 Vaccinated

  • No Daily Symptom Screening - Daily COVID-19 symptom screening reporting on the LewisU App is no longer necessary for those who have submitted their fully vaccinated status to Lewis University.
  • No Face Coverings Necessary Indoors - Those who have submitted their fully vaccinated status to the LewisU App, face coverings are not required while inside buildings. Masks may be required of all individuals attending an event on campus or participating in a university activity in certain circumstances. When face coverings are required, signs will be posted and/or participants will be notified of the requirement.
  • Vaccination is the Best Defense Against COVID-19 – The COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and help build protection against COVID-19. After you are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, you can resume many activities that you did before the pandemic. COVID-19 cases are currently increasing in areas where there are low vaccinated rates.

Mitigation Efforts in Place for Unvaccinated Individuals

  • Daily COVID-19 Symptom Screening Required - Unvaccinated individuals are still required to submit mandatory COVID-19 symptom screening on the LewisU App before arriving on campus each day. All unvaccinated resident students are required to submit the screening on the LewisU App each day.
  • Face Covering Required Inside Buildings – Individuals who have not submitted their vaccinated status to Lewis University or have not been fully vaccinated are still required to wear face coverings when indoors.

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or receive a positive test result, regardless of your vaccinated status, you must report them to the Lewis University COVID-19 Hotline Team through the LewisU App, 815-588-7000 or covidhotline@lewisu.edu

Thank you to all those who have submitted their vaccinated status to Lewis University. Our collective efforts will increase protection for our community during this pandemic.
