Lewis University Pitches Over 6,000 Pumpkins
Published: November 23, 2020.The Seventh Annual Pumpkin Pitch hosted by the Lewis University Society of Physics Students, Lewis University Sustainability Club and Will County Green was another success this year.
The November 7 event attracted many community members with donations that assist in reducing waste added to landfills. More than 6,400 pumpkins were pitched to be composted. The 9,000 pounds of documents shredded will reduce energy and water consumption in addition to reducing air pollution and saving trees. The 5,333 pounds of recycled electronic will be salvaged for future uses and valuable metals will be extracted.
