COVID Update - Testing, Mental Health Support, Study Spaces

Published: October 22, 2020.

The weather has turned colder and concerns about the pandemic are growing around the country and in our region. We must remain diligent in living out the Flyers Promise.

Your vigilance in wearing a face covering, washing hands, and maintaining physical distancing is still vital as Restore Illinois Regions 7 and 8 have additional COVID-19 resurgence mitigation measures in place, starting tomorrow. While our Romeoville campus is located in Region 7 and our Oak Brook location is in Region 8, the resurgence mitigation measures do not affect the delivery mode of our classes. Your courses will proceed as scheduled until further notice.

Free COVID-19 Tests on Romeoville Campus Twice a Week

On Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning this week, the Will County Health Department Community Health Center Mobile Medical Unit is providing free COVID-19 tests from 9 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. in Lot GG of our Romeoville Campus. Testing is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring a personal ID and insurance card, if you have one.

  • No appointment necessary
  • No medical insurance necessary
  • No referral needed
  • No symptoms required

Free Support Services are Available

We recognize the additional strain of the pandemic on top of other life stressors can be overwhelming. Visit LewisU Wellness to access resources for physical, emotional, social, environmental, financial, occupational, spiritual, and intellectual wellness.

Students can schedule an appointment with the Center for Health & Counseling Services at 815-836-5455 or on the Counseling Center website. Following recommendations from the American College Health Association, the Center for Health & Counseling Services is offered via telehealth as much as possible to reduce crowding on campus, limit exposure to COVID-19 and promote health and safety overall for the university community.

Perspectives, our Employee Assistance Program, is available to all employees and their families. Counselors are available 24/7 at 800-456-6327. Employees and their families can access online resources at as well.

Indoor Study Spaces are Available

Seasonal weather might necessitate a change from an outside study area to an inside space. Study spaces are available on a reservation basis for students. Visit the reservation website or the LewisU App to reserve a study space on the Romeoville campus.

The Library also has study space for students needing a quiet space to participate in their online courses while on campus.

Remember, students, faculty or staff who test positive for COVID-19 or have been informed by their healthcare provider they are suspected to have COVID-19, should contact the Lewis University COVID-19 Hotline Team on the LewisU App, at 815-588-7000, or as soon as possible.
