COVID-19 Update - Vigilance, Free Testing

Published: September 24, 2020.

I’d like to begin this week’s COVID-19 update with some good news. The enhanced mitigation efforts that have been effective in Illinois Region 7 of the Restore Illinois plan since August 26 have been lifted, returning Region 7 our region to Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan

Stay Vigilant

Our area’s positivity rate has been reduced thanks to a community-wide effort to protect our health, and effort the Lewis community has contributed to in meaningful ways. As we go forward, we must continue this great work and remain vigilant in our efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to live the Flyers Promise on and off campus.

  • Wear a face covering
  • Wash your hands
  • Physically distance yourself from others when possible
  • Continue to use the LewisU app for symptom screening, class and other check-ins through QR codes, and reporting test results

Free COVID-19 Testing Available

The Illinois Department of Public Health is providing another nearby free testing opportunity. Drive-thru and walk-up testing will be available from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 at the Romeoville Village Hall Parking Lot at 1050 W. Romeo Rd.

Simple nasal swabs will be used. Test results should be returned within 4-7 days. There is no charge to be tested and no insurance required, but if you do have insurance, please bring your card. Anyone can be tested. You do not need to be exhibiting symptoms.

If you receive a positive test result, please report the result to the LewisU App or contact the Lewis University COVID-19 Hotline 815-588-7000 or as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our community healthy and safe. Together, we continue to learn, grow and find new ways to engage on campus and online.
