Face Coverings Policy Update

Published: September 3, 2020.

A face covering is the primary way we can protect the health and safety of each member of the Lewis community. Therefore, face coverings are required for everyone who is present on a Lewis University campus and should be worn in classrooms, offices, laboratories, hallways, and common spaces. Face coverings should be worn outdoors unless appropriate physical distancing is being observed. Face coverings should be worn by students and employees participating in an outdoor class, even if maintaining physical distancing.

Face coverings can be removed in closed rooms when alone and while eating or drinking in designated dining areas.  Face coverings should be worn in dining areas before and after eating.

Cloth face coverings should cover the nose and mouth, fit snugly, but not restrict breathing. Everyone is expected to provide their own face covering. A limited supply of face coverings will be provided to students and employees and will be available for those who are unable to provide their own or forget to bring one.
