COVID-19 - July 23 Update - Class Schedules, Resurgence Data

Published: July 23, 2020.

With less than six weeks left until the start of the fall semester, we continue to make preparations for our return to campus.  Today’s message focuses on class schedules, support for higher-risk individuals and increased planning for a potential resurgence in Illinois.

Class Schedule Adjustments

Changes are occurring in students' MyLewis accounts regarding fall semester class schedules.  Please be patient as the Office of the Registrar, Facilities, faculty, and others continue to work on redesigning classroom spaces, schedules, and academic policies to follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. As a result, some classes might be changed from being in-person to online while others have changed locations to accommodate physical distancing. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Higher-Risk Individuals – Contact Us Now for Accommodations

If not already done, higher-risk individuals according to CDC guidance should contact the designated departments now so we can collaborate on appropriate accommodations.

Illinois Regional COVID-19 Resurgence Data – What We’re Looking at

Lewis University’s locations are in Region 7 (Romeoville) and Region 8 (Oak Brook) of the areas the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) are monitoring to identify significant increases of COVID-19 transmission in Illinois.  Visit to see the updated status of our campus locations in Illinois Regional COVID-19 Resurgence Criteria.

Our Leadership Team, Campus Continuity Taskforce, and Campus Emergency Planning Team are monitoring the Illinois Regional Resurgence data as well as new guidance from various organizations, such as the Illinois Board of Higher Education, Will County Health Department, and the American College Health Association.  Our teams are working in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff to adjust our current plan for fall as well as developing contingency plans in the event there is a resurgence in the area surrounding our classes in Romeoville, Oak Brook, and Albuquerque.

This semester will be like none other in the history of our university. Thank you for your flexibility and prudence in visiting return to campus for the latest updates on plans for our Fall 2020 Semester.
