Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) - May 28 Update

Published: May 28, 2020.

We are happy to learn that our region is expected to move to Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan on Friday, May 29. This will change operations in our state as businesses start to reopen in a different way while we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although we are making progress in terms of the number of cases, positivity test rates, hospitalizations, and other areas, the mitigation strategies for COVID-19 will continue into the future.  We must continue to implement enhanced health and safety measures that curtail the spread of COVID-19.

For this reason, during Phase 3 of Restore Illinois, we will have several precautionary measures in place at Lewis University.

  • All summer courses will be online.
  • We remain a virtual campus. All employees will continue to work remotely unless the work function they are performing on that day cannot be done remotely. All on-campus work needs prior approval from a supervisor.
  • There will be no dining services this summer. Common Grounds (C-Store) has limited operations.
  • Individuals are expected to wear face coverings while in public areas of campus.

Phase 3 of Restore Illinois does make one significant change to life at Lewis University. We are now able to complete some of the experiential learning that was interrupted during the Spring 2020 semester, such as flight instruction and science research. Students will be contacted by their instructors and programs if this applies to their situation.

Once again, we want to thank you for your assistance, cooperation and patience as we move into this new phase.

We will continue to post updates to our website lewisu.edu as they become available.
