Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) - March 15 Update

Published: March 15, 2020.

Students, Faculty and Staff,

Once again, thank you for all of your efforts as our university continues to take action to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.† Our primary goals in the near term are to reduce the population on our campus by transitioning to online education and remote work, while assuring the academic progress of our students.

At this time there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus on campus.

  • All our campuses remain open.
  • All courses originally scheduled to be online will proceed as planned on Monday, March 16. This includes online classes that are in the middle of their 16-week term as well classes originally scheduled to begin online the week of March 16.
  • All courses originally scheduled to be face-to-face will be delayed by one week, resuming in a fully online format on Monday, March 23.Most students could expect to receive communication from their instructors regarding the new format.
  • Resident students who are currently on campus for Spring Break housing are permitted to be on campus the week of March 16.† Visit https://www.lewisu.edu/covid-19/reslife.htm for more information about residence halls.
  • All Lewis University NCAA athletic-related activities, including competition and practices, are suspended through at least April 6, when the Great Lakes Valley Conference will review their status. All GLVC Spring Championships have been canceled as are all NCAA Winter and Spring Championships.
  • Supervisors are making arrangements for remote work wherever possible, and identifying other accommodations. Reducing the number of employees in the workplace is a critical step to protect the health of our colleagues whose jobs cannot be performed from home.
  • All public events are canceled until April 14.
  • All internal meetings and events with more than 25 attendees are canceled, and employees are encouraged to meet remotely as much as possible.

Our Leadership Team will send updates as new information becomes available. We are† continually updating www.lewisu.edu/covid-19 with information and resources in regard to our universityís response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are living in a time of uncertainty and unprecedented circumstances. While we cannot predict what the next few days will bring, please know that our university remains united to work together and by association support of our Mission. Our students are at the center of every decision that we make, whether itís in times of prosperity or challenges.†

Thanks for all you are doing.

Dr. Christopher Sindt
Provost
