Lewis University Artists Honored at the President’s 10th Annual Art Show

Published: April 9, 2018.

Artwork by 36 Lewis University students and alumni is currently on display in the President’s Tenth Annual Art Exhibition at the Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery, located on the university’s main campus in Romeoville. The exhibit, free and available to the public, will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily until April 28.

“This annual competition is an impressive display by our students and alumni,” said Dr. David Livingston, president of Lewis University, who donated $1,000 for the cash prizes. “Each artist brings his or her own talents, personal histories and artistic goals to produce artwork that is unique and quite engaging.”

Over 125 submissions consisting of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking and graphic design were received. The show was then narrowed down to the 78 pieces exhibited in the gallery. Winners were selected by Mark Swain chair and professor of the Art Department. Swain, a 1993 graduate of Lewis University, also has a painting in the show.

Eleven students received a total of $1,000 in awards for their exhibits in the show. Bryan Sisk of Plainfield took First Place for "Depression," photography and acrylic, Larissa Barnat of Burbank took Second Place for "Mercury," oil, and Third Place went to Zachary Meredith of Grawn, Mich. for "The Way Life Goes," acrylic.
