Lewis University Honored as College of Distinction

Published: August 7, 2017.

Lewis University has been recognized as a 2017-2018 College of Distinction by the national guidebook that highlights exceptional institutions across the United States as an alternative to the industry-standard surface statistics led by other rankings.

To be designated a college of distinction, a school’s curriculum must emphasize such core competencies as critical thinking, writing, oral skills, research, and global perspectives, as well as offering out-of-classroom learning and study abroad programs.

Lewis University was chosen as a teaching-centered university that that delivered exceptionally well in the four overarching distinctions – Engagement, Teaching, Community and Outcomes. It is an institution as noted by the AAC&U as dedicated to high-impact practices to ensure students gain the essential skills valued by employers and necessary for democratic participation and a life well lived.

Lewis University is an innovative and entrepreneurial Catholic university offering market-relevant undergraduate and graduate programs to 6,500 students. Sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis University is nationally recognized for preparing intellectually engaged, ethically grounded, globally connected and socially responsible graduates.
