Lewis University Honors 1,000-plus Graduates at Spring Commencement

Lewis University will hold Spring Commencement ceremonies for more than 1,000 students and bestow an honorary degree this weekend. Degree ceremonies are scheduled on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 in the Student Recreation and Fitness Center on the universityís campus in Romeoville. Sundayís ceremony will be the largest Commencement in the universityís history.

On Saturday, the Graduate Degree Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will award masterís degrees to 282 men and women. Five doctoral degrees will be awarded to candidates in the College of Education and the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

The Sunday schedule will begin with the Baccalaureate Mass at 9 a.m., followed by a continental breakfast. The Undergraduate Degree Ceremony for about 730 students will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The Presidentís Reception for Graduates will occur after both ceremonies for graduates and their guests.

Lewis University will award an honorary doctoral degree at its Undergraduate Degree Ceremony to Gery Short, retired director of the Office of Education for the Christian Brothersí District of San Francisco New Orleans.

The ceremonies will also be streamed live online at www.lewisu.edu/livecommencement.
