Lewis’ Leet Finishes Fourth in Steeplechase at Music City Distance Carnival

Lewis University's Michael Leet (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) finished fourth in the steeplechase this past Saturday at the Music City Distance Carnival at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. Leet automatically qualified for the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held June 21-24 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Leet, competing unattached, completed the race with a personal best time of 8:39.25 which was under the automatic qualifying time of 8:40.00. He is one of 26 runners to qualify for the event and will compete in the preliminary round on Friday, June 22nd at 3:15 p.m. The finals for the steeple will take place on Sunday, June 24th at 3:55 p.m.

Leet finished third in the steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, N.C. on Friday, May 25, he set a new school record in the event finishing the race with a time of 8:50.65

The event will be livestreamed beginning at 11:30 a.m. (CST) on that Friday and will be shown on NBC Sports Network (tape-delayed) beginning at 10 p.m. that evening. Coverage of the final round will be shown on NBC Sports Gold beginning at 11:30 a.m. (CST) and will be shown on NBC Live from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. (CST).
