Dr. Simone Muench Publishes “Suture” Book

Published: May 5, 2017.

A witty, ingenious book of sonnets entitled “Suture” is the latest publication from Drs. Simone Muench and Dean Rader. It is published by Black Lawrence Press.

In this innovative new collection, Simone Muench and Dean Rader reimagine one of the most enduring genres—the sonnet. Each poem begins with a line from a previously published sonnet, after which, Rader and Muench alternate writing subsequent stanzas, thus, each poem contains three discreet but interrelated voices. These poems move from the intensely lyrical to the comic to the erotic to the introspective to the musical.

She is a recipient of an NEA poetry fellowship, two Vermont Studio Center fellowships, two Illinois Arts fellowships, a Yaddo residency, an Artsmith residency and the Bright Lights/Big Verse PSA Award. She is the author of six full-length collections including Orange Crush, Wolf Centos and Lampblack & Ash, which was an Editor’s Choice at The New York Times Book Review.
