Message from the President (July 28, 2020)

Students, Faculty, and Staff:

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced that its Council of Presidents voted to postpone the majority of the 2020 fall intercollegiate athletics season until the second semester, due to ongoing concerns of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The decision was made based on guidance from the league’s athletics directors and an extensive review of the recommended testing and safety measures developed by the NCAA Sport Science Institute.

I know many of our student athletes will be disappointed by this news, but as a member of the GLVC President’s Council, we felt this was the best course of action to protect the health and safety of our students.

The expectation is that Lewis University student-athletes will conduct conditioning, strength training, and other practice opportunities during the fall semester, as health and safety conditions allow.  More updates to the Flyer Athletics program will be posted as they become available on https://lewisflyers.com/.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Livingston
President
