Bio:

Dr. Sina Rahimi joined Lewis University in August 2021. Prior to coming to Lewis University, he was a PhD candidate at the University of Calgary, Alberta. He defended his dissertation in July 2021, “A Comprehensive study on the Information content of Large Book Tax Differences”.

Dr. Sina started teaching in 2018, he has a wide variety of experience teaching and mentoring students at both undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Sina has taught Introductory Financial Accounting, MBA level Managerial Accounting, Advanced Accounting Theory, and Federal Income Tax courses among other courses in Finance and Economics. He is a member of the AAA (American Accounting Association), the EAA (European Accounting Association) and the CAAA (Canadian Accounting Association), where he has presented and reviewed numerous papers such as “Corporate Tax avoidance & Customer satisfaction”. Dr. Sina Rahimi conducts both empirical and analytical research in Tax and Financial accounting. His current research interests include the information content in Book Tax Differences, Earnings quality, earnings persistence, determinants of tax avoidance. Sina has received a number of academic research awards and scholarships in the areas of Accounting and Finance, including the Janet Marion award, CPA Tax award, and the prestigious Bertram Scholarship award from the Canadian Foundation for Governance Research. Dr. Sina Rahimi also has professional working experience as a portfolio manager. He has previously worked as a financial analyst where his responsibilities included risk analysis, credit analysis, and portfolio construction.
