President's Greeting
Welcome to the Web site of Lewis University, the ninth largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois. As you explore our site, you will see that Lewis is a dynamic, mid-sized University with nearly 6,500 undergraduate and graduate students, offering small interactive classes, high quality academic programs, a very well-qualified faculty, impressive academic facilities, service-learning opportunities, NCAA Division II athletics, a wide range of campus activities and a wonderfully-diverse community. Our values-centered curriculum here at Lewis combines a liberal arts foundation blended with relevant professional education.
Sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis is Catholic and Lasallian, preparing our students to become intellectually engaged, ethically grounded, globally connected, and socially responsible. Our faculty are excellent teachers, mentors and scholars. Small, personalized classes provide faculty with abundant opportunities to interact with their students and involve them in various learning projects and research.
I invite you to learn more about our main campus which is exceptionally beautiful, secure, self-contained, and located just 30 minutes from Chicago. Nearly 1,400 resident students live in 12 residence halls within easy walking distance of the Library, various academic facilities, the Student Recreation and Fitness Center, the Student Union, the Bookstore and Sancta Alberta Chapel. Classes also are offered online and at convenient regional sites in Tinley Park, Oak Brook, Hickory Hills, Shorewood, and at De La Salle Institute in Chicago, in addition to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
