Campus Security

Student Officers

Campus Security employs 25-30 students as officers. Their duties range from working as dispatchers to assisting in the office with making student ids and issuing parking permits. After a year in the program officers have the opportunity to become Training officer, Traffic Control staff and or Level II officers. Student officers are hired through the University Financial aid work student program therefore they must be current Lewis University students.

As members of the Campus Security student staff you will be training in Radio usage, Security communications, Computer training, customer service, community relations and department policies. We operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week, holidays and weekends. Shifts range from 1 hour to 8 hours depending on the time of day. Students can work 16 hours per week during the school year and this can increase up to almost 40 hours a week in the summer. Officers must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and cannot be on judicial probation.

If you have any questions or would like more information on being a student worker in Campus Security please contact Tom Burgess at extension 5654.
