Lewis University is fortunate to be located close to the resources of a thriving metropolis, Chicago.  You can explore Chicago by Internet even before you travel there.  Investigate these web sites:

  • The Art Institute of Chicago 
     (Located at Michigan and Adams) 
    One of the world’s greatest art collections, including more French impressionist paintings than in the Paris Louvre.  Special exhibits change daily.

  • Field Museum of Natural History
    (Located at 1400 S. Lakeshore Drive) 
    A world-class collection of biological and anthropological exhibits, including the skeleton of a T.rex dinosaur named Sue.



  • DuSable Museum of African American History
    (Located at 740 E. 56th Place) 
    The history of African Americans in America is shown and their contributions to culture, art and technology.

  • Museum of Science and Industry
    (Located at 57th Street & Lake Shore Drive) 
    This is a very entertaining place with automated exhibits, displays of antique airplanes, a theatre, spacecrafts, coal mine, farm equipment, and a German submarine

  • Adler Planetarium
    (Located at 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive) 
    Special astronomy shows throughout the year.



  • John G. Shedd Aquarium
    (Located at 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive) 
    A variety of fish, an Oceanarium, marine mammal show, and coral reef exhibit.  There is a boat dock next to the Aquarium for sight-seeing in the summer.



  • Navy Pier
    Parks, gardens, shops, museums, restaurants, and entertainment.   

      


  • Chicago Botanic Garden
    (Located at 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe)  Spectacular gardens on 385 acres.

Local University and College Websites
