The Chicagoland Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (CCASTD) is pleased to accept applications for the 6th annual Dr. Deborah Colky Student Award.The Dr. Deborah Colky Student Award was established to honor the legacy of Dr. Deborah Lavin Colky, Ed.D., published author, esteemed colleague, professor, and beloved mentor at Roosevelt University and her efforts to support students and the transformation of the learning profession.”Students are the lifeblood of any organization and CCASTD is no different” said Sue Weller, CPLP, 2012 CCASTD President. “By offering this award, not only do we applaud the dedication, achievement, and contributions of all the talented students advancing the workplace learning and performance profession but we also pay honor to Deb Colky’s enduring legacy in both our field and within CCASTD.”This CCASTD $1,000.00 cash award recognizes a student who shows excellent potential in the Workplace Learning & Performance (WLP) profession. Award recipients historically exhibit many of Deb’s qualities, including enthusiasm and patience that encourages personal growth and skill development of those around them. In addition, the committee is interested in applicants who are effective and efficient practitioners, passionate about organization development, people-centric, and, who like Deb, are humanistic. Each year, one recipient is honored at the annual December CCASTD Holiday Party. Here, they are given a one-time cash award of $1,000.00, a commemorative plaque, a one year membership to CCASTD, and the opportunity to have one article published in the professional magazine Training Today.

The award requires the recipient’s commitment to participate in events that promote raising visibility in the Chicagoland community around workplace learning & performance and the Chicagoland Chapter ASTD (CCASTD) through the end of December 2013.

Eligibility requirements are simple – If you are enrolled in a degree program that is related to the field of workplace learning and performance, are planning a career in the field, exhibit many of Dr. Deb Colky’s qualities as listed above, and reside in the Chicago area, you are eligible to apply. Completed applications must be received by November 19, 2012.

The Dr. Deborah Colky Student Award will be awarded to a recipient based on a minimum number of eligible applications received.
