I was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago. I enjoy cooking, volunteering, traveling and reading. I am the mother of 2 beautiful children; TJ & Joyre. I am an adult student who returned to college 19 years later only to excel to heights I could not have imagined.

In 2007 when I was laid off my job of 12 years, I didn’t hesitate to pray and ask God for direction. My desire over the years had been to complete my college education, but when I continued to earn more and more money, the desire for obtaining my degree was suppressed way back in my mind. Being laid off was the opportunity for God to give me the desire of my heart, it was the opportunity for me to trust him and trust that my being laid off was not a punishment, but a gentle push to get me on track to reaching my dreams. I have enjoyed the opportunity to use my natural talents of writing and speaking, I have enjoyed the relationships and the cultural diversity that being in college affords you. The challenge of being challenged to achieved greatness was the most enjoyable, I wanted to do better than my best, I wanted to surprise myself and I think I did that when I obtained my degree and maintained a very high G.P.A, all while navigating through life’s journey.

I am a true testimony that no matter where you are in life, if you have a desire to accomplish things that seem impossible, trust God and he will give you the desires of your heart. I didn’t allow the stumbling blocks in my life to stop me from achieving greatness. I allowed them to improve my posture so that I could take a stand for the things that I knew I could accomplish. I am the person who worked hard, dreamed, took action and achieved greatness. I am proud to be an example to my children who see me as a “grown person” and see me in school studying hard and being rewarded for hard work. This shows them that if mommy can do it, then they can do it, also. I am proud to say that I have obtained my Degree, I am proud of the woman God has created me to be.

With the education I have obtained from Lewis University, in my undergraduate studies, I plan to continue my education and obtain my Master’s Degree. I plan to use my education, knowledge and college experience in ways that help others, by mentoring, volunteering, speaking, coaching and working in a career environment that recognizes my education as an asset. I plan to write, speak and teach about it.
My “Tips for Success” include reading: READ, so that you are not blind to what the world has to offer you, reading is powerful; it gives knowledge and returns success. RESEARCH: find out what opportunities are out the for you to make a difference, find out what schools, organizations and communities have something to offer you and in turn, what you have to offer them. BE READY: be ready to take the next steps in reaching your dreams, find out what you need to do in order to accomplish your goals, be ready to do the work needed, be ready to take a stand for your future, be ready to work hard so the opportunities of life doesn’t pass you by.
