Cover Letter Writing

Cover Letter Tips

  • Always proofread your cover letters to make sure there are no mistakes. It is a good idea to have someone else look them over.
  • Each letter needs to be tailored to the position you applied for.
  • Cover letters should be original. Make a copy of the letter for your personal files and keep it with the position advertisement.
  • Single-space the body, double space between paragraphs.
  • Don't start a business letter with the word "I."

For more cover letter examples see the job search information in the career library. If you need additional help writing a cover letter, make an appointment at the front desk to see a career counselor.
