Lewis University nursing students host health fair at Mayslake Village

Diabetes prevention, nutritional information and memory enhancement exercises were among the topics presented during a health fair hosted by Lewis University College of Nursing and Health Professions students and faculty at the adult independent living center Mayslake Village in Oak Brook. Other areas that promoted adult health included aging eyes, exercise, Vitamin D facts, osteoarthritis, and memory improvement.

Attendees were engaged in learning healthy behaviors so they can achieve higher levels of wellness and live longer, healthier lives. Creative approaches and props were applied in each of the studentsí presentations. The students are third-year nursing students enrolled in the course Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Across the Lifespan. Jane Trainor, assistant professor, and Laura Barnes, instructor, assist students during their clinical experiences in the course.
