Tarin and Polock earn CSCAA Academic Honors for Lewis Men's Swimming

Published: July 14, 2014.

Two Lewis University men's swimming student-athletes were honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Monday (July 14) for their work in the pool and in the classroom.

Sophomore Victor Tarin (Godelleta, Valencia, Spain/IES Conselleria) was named a CSCAA Scholar All-American. Senior Tyson Polack (Canby, Ore./Canby) earned Honorable Mention Scholar All-America honors.

The Scholar All-America award recognizes swimmers who qualified and competed at the national championship meet and earned a cumulative, or term grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The honorable mention accolades recognizes those who met these same academic qualifications and achieved a "B" time standard but did not qualify or compete in their respective national championship.

"The six total (four women and two men) earning this honor are the most in my time at Lewis," Lewis swimming head coach Roger Karns said. "With an award like this that combines academic and athletic achievement it's a great sign for the program that we're seeing more and more student-athletes honored. I'm happy to see their hard work recognized."

The Flyers open the 2014-15 campaign in October.
