Dr. Joseph Kozminski to present evolution of the telescope

As a follow-up to the Philip Lynch Theatre’s production of Galileo, Lewis University in Romeoville will host a presentation called “The Telescope: From Galileo to the Present” at 3 p.m. on Nov. 23 in room AS-158-A (A-133). The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Joseph Kozminski, physics professor at Lewis University, will present on the evolution of the telescope since Galileo’s time. This presentation on the past, present and future of the telescope marks the 400th anniversary of the year in which Galileo first turned a telescope to the heavens.

This presentation is being presented as a part of Lewis University’s Arts & Ideas Program, providing cultural and educational programming for students and the community. Enhancements to the widely-used Oremus Fine Arts Center are included in the “Touching Hearts & Minds: The Campaign for Lewis University.” It is a $30 million initiative to provide increased scholarship funding and expanded facilities to enhance learning. The Campaign will expand scholarship support with new and existing endowed scholarships, annual scholarships and the new Lewis Mission Fund, designed to assist students facing economic challenges. The Oremus Fine Arts Center, which is the most visited building on the Lewis campus, will be improved with a flexible new theatre and rehearsal space, community room, art gallery and outdoor gathering and dining area.
