The future of space exploration and space research is currently being debated. Former astronaut Dr. Linda Godwin will discuss some of the prevailing opinions, NASAís current directive, and what is happening in the commercial space world during the Spring Equinox Edition of Night at the Lab on March 20 at Lewis University in Romeoville. A Night at the Lab is free and open to the public. The event begins at 6 p.m. with hands-on physics and chemistry demos and activities (with an astronomy theme) and lab tours in the Lewis University Science Building.
The meet and greet session with Godwin will be from 6:30-7:15 p.m. in the Science Building. The University of Missouri professorís presentation, ďA Personal Perspective on Human Space Flight, the Past and FutureĒ will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Sancta Alberta. Godwin will discuss NASAís activities in space based upon her experiences on four space shuttle missions which included visits to two different space stations and two space walks. She will include an overview of science projects and payloads and advantages of research in microgravity. International cooperation has been an important aspect of the International Space Station. Godwin will discuss how that cooperation became important and how it changed during her NASA career.
If weather permits, stargazing will be available through the Lewis University telescopes at 8:30 p.m.
