Romeoville campus:
This spring, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will
be making improvements to the Illinois Route 7 Bridge which is the “milelong
bridge” that extends from 159th street in Lockport across the
DesPlaines River and merging waterways to the intersection where
Route 53 meets Renwick Road, just south of Lewis University. These
improvements
will include patching and application of new overlay to the entire
bridge and will require closure of the bridge until all improvements
are completed. Weather permitting; this construction is scheduled
to last from the beginning of May until or about August 31, 2008.
The bridge closure will affect many Lewis University students and
those who will be visiting Lewis University for events such as Commencement,
athletic events, meetings, onferences, May and Summer session, sports
camps and more. As soon as IDOT has announced its suggested detours,
an e-mail message will be sent to the entire Lewis University Community
with suggested routes for those who drive to campus from the east,
particularly those who use 159th street or Route 171 (Archer) as access
routes. Thank you for your patience while the State improves the safety
of this very busy bridge.
