Lewis University National Test Center



The Lewis University National Test Center is an authorized CLEP, DANTES, and Excelsior test site offering computer based testing at Kirtland Air Force Base.

The Lewis University National Testing Center at Kirtland AFB offers the following exams:
  • College Level Examination Program exams;
  • DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST);
  • Excelsior exams (ECE);
  • GMAT;
  • National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician exams;
  • Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) exams;

ELIGIBILITY:
  1. CLEP-DANTES BookletActive duty military personnel and their family members.
  2. DOD and civilian employees and their family members.
  3. Retirees and their family members.
  4. Other members of the base community.
Test sessions are limited. Reservations online, by phone or in person are required for Lewis University testing.

CLEP: College Level Examination Program testing is free to active duty, reserve, guard personnel and specifically funded civilian DoD employees. Cost to other eligible civilian test candidates is $77 per test. Examinees may use a credit card for the CLEP charge at the time of the testing day registration process. Examinees may also pay using a certified check or money order for $77.00 payable to "College Level Examination Program". The Lewis University NTC also requires a $30 administration fee using a check or money order paid to "Lewis University." Retests for failed exams are available after 180 days and are to be funded by the examinee ($77+$30 admin fee), including military personnel. CLEP exams are timed at 90 min. with the exception of College Composition (120 min.) and there is no wrong answer penalty.

DSST: DANTES Subject Standardized Tests are free to active duty, reserve, guard personnel and specifically funded civilian DoD employees. Cost to other eligible civilian test candidates is $80 per test. Examinees may use a credit card for the DSST charge at the time of the testing day registration process. The Lewis University National Test Center also requires a $30 administration fee using a check or money order paid to "Lewis University." Retests for failed exams are available after 180 days and are to be funded by the examinee ($80+$30 admin fee), including military personnel. DSST exams are timed at 120 min. and there is no wrong answer penalty.

Principles of Public Speaking is a paper-based exam and must be scheduled through the Kirtland Education Center at (505) 846-9933.

Excelsior College Examinations (ECE) Program: Eligibility and retest policies are the same as CLEP/DSST exams for military and reserve component personnel. Civilian testing is not authorized for ECE exams. Retests for failed exams are available after 180 days and are to be funded by the examinee.
