Free Academic Skill Enhancement Workshops
for Adult Undergraduate and Graduate Students
A collaborative initiative involving the Leckrone
Academic Resource Center, the School
for Profesionnal and Continuing Education, and faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Education
Free Academic skill enhancement workshops are offered to
all currently enrolled adult undergraduate students (24 years of age and
older) and all graduate
students. New and continuing
adult students have the opportunity to receive specialized instruction in math,
writing,
and reading that is relevant to the courses associated with their program of
study. These workshops serve as a great refresher for skills which have not
been used for awhile. They may also help an adult student gain greater understanding
of a particular subject before taking a required general education course for
their degree.
The workshops are designed in a way that helps an adult
enhance their skills and gain confidence in their abilities. In addition
to math, reading,
and writing, workshops are also offered on study skills, on writing
research papers using APA and MLA formats, on ways to navigate technology
such as Blackboard and
on resources available through the Library.
Details are posted on the School
for Professional and Continuing Education Web site and on Blackboard or
call (815) 836-5570.
