Professional Certificate Programs

The College of Nursing and Health Professions Graduate Studies in Nursing offers three post-master’s certificate programs. A master’s degree in Nursing is required for enrollment in all certificate programs. An official transcript is acceptable to verify completion of the masters degree in Nursing.

The three certificate options available are (1) Nursing Administration, (2) Nursing Education, and (3) Adult Nurse Practitioner. It takes approximately one year to complete either the Nursing Administration or Nursing Education certificate programs, while the Adult Nurse Practitioner certificate program will take approximately 1.5 - 2.5 years to complete on a part-time basis, depending on coursework previously completed. Tuition for certificate program courses is listed in the current University Course Schedule.

Upon completion of the certificate program, the student will receive a certificate from the College of Nursing and Health Professions as well as have graduate credit hours posted to an official transcript.

NURSING ADMINISTRATION/CERTIFICATE

The Nursing Administration Certificate is designed for master’s in Nursing degree-prepared nurses currently practicing in nursing management, or interested in a future career change to this specialty. The curriculum is designed to enhance administration skills in a variety of settings.

ADULT NURSE PRACTITIONER/CERTIFICATE

The Adult Nurse Practitioner Certificate is designed for nurses with a master’s degree in nursing seeking a career change to function in a clinical setting as an advanced practice adult nurse practitioner. The curriculum is designed to enhance clinical knowledge and skills in a variety of primary care settings.

CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS (COLLEGE OF NURSING AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS)

The College of Nursing and Health Professions provides continuing education programs open to registered nurses and others for the purposes of professional development or to meet requirements for maintaining specialty certification. A listing of current CEU courses can be found in the current University Course Schedule. Upon completion of the continuing education program the student will be awarded a CEU certificate.
