Admission Requirements

Applicants must be 24 years of age, submit verification by official transcripts of completion of a baccalaureate degree at a regionally accredited institution, have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.00, have three years work experience, and written statement of personal and professional purpose for pursuing this graduate degree. Applicants with less than a 3.00 grade point average and/or writing deficiencies may be admitted with provisional status that may remain in effect for no more than two semesters. Admission will be determined by the Program Director with final approval by the graduate council.

Students must maintain an overall grade point average of 3.00 (4.00 scale) for continuation in the program. No content or discipline specific qualifying or comprehensive examinations are required. These competencies are acquired through the curriculum. No foreign language is required.

There is a five-year limit on the time a student may take to complete the program. Students remain under the requirement of the catalog in effect at the time of matriculation unless they discontinue attendance for more than two consecutive years, in which they will follow the catalog in effect upon their return.

Is transfer credit allowed?

Students may apply up to nine (9) semester hours of graduate level work from a regionally accredited institution. A transfer student will follow the Admissions criteria described above. The following conditions apply to the acceptance of transfer credit.

  1. No grade may be lower than a B.

  2. Course work must have been completed within the last five years.

  3. Appropriateness of course work will be decided by the Director of the Organizational Leadership Program at the time of the student’s application to the program.

  4. A course(s) students may wish to transfer in must have been completed for credit within a master’s degree and be comparable with a course offered in the MAOL curriculum.

  5. Courses from outside the United States will be considered if they are evaluated as graduate level by the Admission Office or the Commission of Accreditation of the American Council on Education.

What are the costs? What are my options for financing graduate study?

Graduate study is an investment. Tuition rates are established for the Fall semester of each year.

We encourage students to make best possible use of employer support for continuing education, when this is offered.

Graduate students at Lewis University are eligible for all grants and loans as provided in the Lewis University catalog. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with a counselor in the Financial Aid Office to determine eligibility.
