Contemporary Global Studies majors choose either a concentration in Political Science or a concentration in History. CGS majors consult advisors in the area of concentration, either Political Science or History.  Political Science majors may not major in CGS with a Political Science concentration;  History majors may not major in CGS with a History concentration.

These short courses include workshops, Travel Study, or other credit-bearing experiences with an international focus approved by the advisor.

IV. Foreign Language Requirement (6)

Students majoring in Contemporary Global Studies are required to complete 6 credit hours in a foreign language.  Credits earned through accepted assessment examinations apply. Three hours may be waived for heritage speakers of a foreign language who demonstrate collegiate proficiency to the satisfaction of the advisor. All majors must complete at least one college course (3 credit hours) of a foreign language. 

V. Capstone Course: Either 18-410 (Political Science) or 09-203/403 (History) satisfies the advanced writing requirement for General Education.

VI. General Education:  Recommended selections include 06-334 Non-Western Literature; 19-298 Christianity and World Religions; 18-210 State and Local Government; 04-195 The American Economy or 04-200 Basic Macroeconomics.
