Lewis' Department of Chemistry offers a teacher certification program that's fully approved by the State Teacher Certification Board, along with the Illinois State Board of Education. To enroll, chemistry majors must declare a minor in Secondary Education. Upon graduation, they will be prepared to teach grades 6-12 in Illinois public and private schools.
