COURSE: 53-346 Special Methods: Teaching Science in Grades 6-12 (3)
This course deals with laboratory and classroom methods and materials used in teaching middle and high school science courses. In the course, students perform activities and master techniques associated with good science instruction. Current issues in science education, NCTS standards and the Illinois Learning standards will be explored. Methods of differentiating instruction and assessment to meet individual students learning styles and needs will be explored. Prerequisite: 2.75 GPA; 53-312; Consent of Education Advisor. This is a pre-service course. Candidates should have completed most of their required major courses prior to taking this class. Offered: Fall.
