COURSE: 53-321 Special Methods: Teaching Social Science in Grades 6-12 (3)
This course deals with classroom methods and materials used in teaching middle and high school social science courses. In the course, candidates perform activities and master techniques associated with good social science instruction. Current issues in social science education and the Illinois Learning standards will be explored. Methods of differentiating instruction and assessment to meet individual students learning styles and needs will be explored. Candidates should have completed most of their required major courses prior to taking this class.
Prerequisite: 2.75 GPA; 53-312; Consent of Education Advisor. This is a pre-service course.
