This course trains students in the pronunciation of Standard North American vowels and consonants, sentence intonation and stress, vocabulary of approximately 1,000 words, carrying on simple conversation on common topics and strategies for dealing with non-understanding. Students also learn common forms of inquiries, requests, expressions of politeness and giving directions. Prerequisite: Placement evaluation. Offered: As needed, RMVL.
