DEGREE PROGRAMS FOR: SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY STUDIES

The bachelor of arts degree in Social and Community Studies is designed with the adult learner in mind. This program incorporates experiences the adult learner has had as a member of society and as a political/ community participant and enables the adult learner to transform the experiences into intellectual and practical insight. Ultimately, the program offers the adult learner an opportunity to gain insight into the society and political community in which he or she lives.

Courses are practical and based on contemporary social and community issues. Students are exposed to current theory and research findings, with a focus on developing critical thinking and other applied skills. Educational methods include information sessions, case studies, collaborative learning activities, topical media and independent and team research.
