FAQs: Transfer Students
- If I have all my general education requirements done, how quickly
can I complete the Biology major?
The Biology major is based on a sequence of courses that require mastery of
concepts in a sequential progression. There are prerequisites for each class
that
must be met before the class can be taken. The number of semesters that it
will
take to complete the major will also depend upon how many of the Biology
major classes have been accepted for transfer. Therefore the answer to
this question
will
vary for each student. BUT CLASSES CANNOT BE TAKEN OUT OF
SEQUENCE!
- Can I speed up the completion of my degree by taking some of the major
classes
someplace else during the summer?
No. Once you become a Biology major at Lewis
University, you must take
all of the courses required for the major at Lewis University. This is
to your
advantage. It has been our experience that graduate and professional schools
prefer that applicants complete their coursework at four-year institutions
as
compared to community colleges.
*Besides the Biology B.A. and B.S. degrees, all of the preprofessional
programs (including the Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation
Therapy, Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs), and Environmental
Science programs are considered as being majors within the Biology
Department and
are
subject
to these guidelines.
